The base chakra – all about
The base (root) chakra is located at the base of the spine and opens downward. Corresponding to it, full of life and energy, is the color red. Its name refers to its place in the hierarchy of chakras, and therefore to the functions it performs, namely grounding, rooting in matter and a sense of security. It relates to the earth element, therefore to all solid, earthy, material things, such as the body, health, survival, abundance. It is also the center of our instinct for self-preservation.
A sense of security and life fulfillment
People who have a harmoniously working base chakra perceive life as something good and wonderful, achieve material success, realize their goals without major problems, feel secure, safe and stable.
People whose energy flow through the base chakra is disturbed, feel fear of life, do not feel secure in the physical world, do not receive much from life, feel powerlessness and unwillingness to act, do badly in the material aspect.
Base chakra and health
As for the physical body, this chakra regulates the overall vitality of the body, including: the immune system, muscular system, skeletal system, large intestine, excretory system, legs, feet, bones, spine, hematopoietic system, adrenal glands and internal organs.
Disturbed functioning of the base chakra can result in thermal imbalance, chronic freezing, reduced vitality, allergies, asthma, back pain, arthritis, leukemia and other blood diseases, developmental and mental disorders or reproductive disorders, kidney, bladder, joint, brain and ear disorders.
Unblocking the base chakra
Working with the base chakra and its proper functioning is all the more important because, as the base chakra, it affects the other chakras in our body. An excellent way to work with the chakras is through yoga. Asanas are not only about working with the body, but also about working with the energy in our body, with our emotions and thinking. If we want to improve the functioning of the base chakra, we should practice hatha yoga and kundalini yoga asanas. If our root chakra is blocked we should surround ourselves with its color, which is intense red. This will stimulate it into action. Gemstones such as agate, red jasper, red coral and ruby will also help. An effective and very pleasant way to work with the chakras is aromatherapy. The root chakra will be best stimulated by the scents of cedar and clove.
